I wanted to touch base today on some very touchy issues that have been introduced in the United States Congress. These have not been voted into law yet, so do not freak out. Since we have spent so much time on the economics here in the US and the bills that have been passed, I thought we should again take a look at some other hot button issues and where they stand.

H.R. 5843 - Act To Remove Federal Penalties for The Personal Use Of Marijuana By Responsible Adults - This bill was introduced on April 17, 2008 by Barney Frank (D, MA 4). Could this be a start to legalizing Marijuana?

H.R. 5353 - Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008 - This bill was introduced on February 12, 2008 by Edward Markey (D, MA 7). This would lead to regulation of services to prevent internet providers from being unfair. The only thing that worries me about this bill is under Specific Requirements section B, which in my way of reading means that they can choose to go up on certain services, networks, and surcharges.

S. 3111 - Life At Conception Act -This bill was introduced on June 11, 2008 by Roger Wicker (R, MS 1). This would make it illegal for abortions of any kind. It is just what it sounds like it would be.

Give me your opinion on these bills that have been introduced. You can click on the number of the bill to see it in it’s original form.
