“Pay It Forward” happens right here in South Carolina with my family

December 6, 2008 by: Robin

This has been one of those stories that brings tears to your eye’s. Have you ever watched the movie “Pay It Forward” with Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment? If not, maybe you have read the book “Pay It Forward” by Catharine Ryan Hyde that was published back in 2000. The “Pay It Forward” movement has really taken off like a rocket. It has happened to my family, right here in South Carolina.

This is where the story is. Just today December 6, 2008, one of my family members was given a great big surprise at the Dollar General Store in Simpsonville, SC. The man in line behind my family member wanted to pay the bill of $70 or more. They of course were dumb founded until the man pleaded with them to let him do this one thing for them because he has no children to buy for. In the end they agreed and allowed him to do this.

Now they of course did not know that their mother (or mother-in-law) helped another person who was in need of help for this Christmas. This is what I call “Paying It Forward”. This is my family story and it is true. I had to write this story right away to let other’s know that this is the true meaning of Christmas.

So what can other’s do this year? Help can come in many different forms. If you can’t afford something, simply just lend a stranger your ear. You can see where this thing started, along with other story link’s below.

I love a good conspiracy, but I try not to attribute to malice what can reasonably be explained by stupidity. The federal gov’t is filled with the latter, as are the Detroit Big 3. And oil markets are just weird. But you make good points.

A conspiracy between the car factories and the oil companies?

    Interesting.

  8. My wife and I loved the movie, but hated what happened to the boy at the end. Wish it could have ended differently in some way. Great movie and great post and story in your article. Keep up the good work!
